Nataša Gliha Komac, PhD, Research Fellow at the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU), is a Deputy Head of the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language. She also works as an Assistant Professor at the Postgraduate School ZRC SAZU, Ljubljana and has twenty years of pedagogical experience at the University of Ljubljana (Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Social Sciences), at the University of Primorska (Faculty of Humanities) and at the University of Trieste, Italy.
Her research focusses on applied linguistics and sociolinguistics, especially on language planning and language policy. She specifically focusses on the status of the Slovenian language in areas of language contact and the use of Slovenian in public speech situations. She is also interested in standardization, normativity and language varieties.
She is a member of the international Committee of Experts of the European Charter for Regional and Minority Languages at the Council of Europe, a member of the Commission for the Slovenian Language in Public at the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, a member of the scientific council of the Slovenian Research Institute (SLORI) in Italy and the president of the Slovenian Cultural Centre Planika Val Canale, Italy.
