Povzetek
As a growing body of research (Baid and Lambert 2010) shows, using humour in education is ideally suited for motivating students to learn about challenging topics. Moreover, the EU (e.g. ET2020) has identified the development of a more skill-oriented education useful for the (future) employment of young EU citizens as one of the top priorities. Therefore, the main objective of the project is to develop and in collaboration with the Slovenian Ombudsman, EURES office and stand-up comedian to implement an innovative humour-based and skill-oriented approach to teaching and learning specific EU topics, namely employment opportunities in the EU and the EU citizenship and rights. The Slovenian People’s Universities (PUs), where the approach will be implemented, identified these topics as the most relevant for their learners. The PUs are a relevant part of the Slovenian public education system as they offer diverse programmes for learners from different age groups that have not finished schooling and decided to do so or to obtain new knowledge and skills relevant for their professional careers. The project will focus on research-based educational and training activities and will enable policy dialogue with various stakeholders that already confirmed their engagement. Outputs: • 4 Educational materials (handbook, teachers’ manual and students’ textbook, toolkit) • 5 (2-day) events (teacher’s training + interactive workshop for learners) • 2 Expert forums (collaborative development of educational approach and materials + policy-dialogue) Outcomes: • Innovative educational approach • New knowledge and skills for at least: 560 student & 150 teachers from 10 PUs - 1/3 of all PUs Impact: • Transformation of the manner in which EU topics are taught and learned in schools • Increased knowledge of pupils and teachers on selected EU topics through engaging educational method • More employable young EU citizens building professional careers in the EU
