Povzetek
The Project "Mobility leading to improvement of vocational subjects teaching" is going to be implemented in the period between 1st September 2017 and 31st January 2018, and is going to include mobility of seven members of the school staff, who will participate in job shadowing activities at the partner school Grm Novo Mesto in Slovenia.
The project mobility team is going to include:
1. Five teachers of different vocational subjects:
- Culinary art
- Catering
- Pastry cooking
- A subject within the group of economic subjects in the field of tourism and catering
- Vocational English
2. A member of the School Counseling Team (psychologist/pedagogue)
3. A member of the School Management
In the preparatory phase of the project, English teachers are going to help to improve language competence of the participants in the project. Geography and history teachers are going to inform the participants about the place, culture and customs of the local community of the partner school in Slovenia.
Through the activities of job shadowing, we are going to achieve the important goals of our organization:
- Gaining vocational knowledge and skills, in the fields of gastronomy, catering and tourism, based on the experiences and examples of good practice of schools in the European Union,
- Improving teaching competence which facilitate implementation of new learning methods and techniques,
- Improving and developing the language competence of vocational subjects teachers, members of the School Counseling Team and School Management,
- Developing the leadership competence of management related to entice partnership and cooperation with institutions and organizations on international level,
- Improving knowledge and skills of the members of the School Counseling Team related to providing teachers and students support,
- Creating conditions for school development in international surroundings
- Modernization of vocational subjects.
After the mobility phase of the project we are going to disseminate the know-how and skills, gained through job shadowing activities. At our school, these activities will include the exchange of experiences and knowledge on the meetings of different school departments, teacher training, observation of classes with demonstration of the acquired knowledge by the mobility participants. The other activities inside the organization would include lesson planning, exemplary and experimental classes.
In the local community, we intend to present the experiences gained through the project by exhibiting on the Ethno food and beverages fair and similar events, and by giving interviews on a local and national television. We would also present our experiences in vocational magazines, on the school website, the Facebook page and Twitter.
The expected results of the project include modernization of teaching methods and curricula within vocational and foreign language subjects. The teachers will gain insight into teaching methods of their colleagues from the partner school, as well as new knowledge and skills which they will later implement. This will affect the present and future students to achieve better results. This form of cooperation and exchange will be useful for the school in many ways because it will improve horizontal learning and affect the acquisition of European values. The employees will be empowered for the development of inter-curricular competencies and interdisciplinary approach to teaching and education which will enable them to approach European tendencies. Also, the participants will acquire knowledge and competence in the field of project management. The project will affect the positioning of the school at a national and regional level.
