Povzetek
The 24- months project- "Job vacancies for vocational skills”- involves 62 students taking part in vocational traineeships-11 in Slovakia, 11 in Slovenia, 20 in Portugal, 20 in Italy and 12 teachers taking part in a vocational training in Portugal (4 people), in Italy (4 people) and a job shadowing in Slovenia (4 people). There will be 2 disabled students among the project participants. They will be given a support of an accompanying person in order to enable them to achieve the project objectives. The project has been written to meet the needs of students and teachers of The School of Hotel and Catering Industry. Both groups see the necessity of improving their vocational competencies in the face of a growing demand for well -trained employees in gastronomy, hotel and tourist services in our region. The project is directed to the students of gastronomy, hotel and tourist profiles and vocational teachers who are open to new experiences, to other cultures and to those who are ready to learn by following good examples. The content of the project is also based on the School Development Plan, the Development Strategy of Town and European School Development Plan. The main objective of the project is to improve vocational competencies of 62 students of gastronomy, hotel and tourist profiles and 12 vocational teachers teaching in those profiles within 24 months in the following areas: preparing selected national dishes, matching wine to the main courses, dealing with hotel guests and clients of tourists agencies , serving breakfast, planning tours around the regions of their stay. Furthermore, teachers , will get acquainted with the new methods used in vocational teaching. The career competence of the participants will be additionally fostered by - Shaping the ability to cooperate and see the needs of disabled students - Social inclusion of the disabled - improving the command of the English language - Improving IT competencies - improving motivation to work harder - shaping tolerant, open attitude towards other cultures and willingness to share Polish cultural heritage with foreign peers Nutrition technicians, cooks and teachers of these profiles will work in restaurants, where they learn how to prepare some national dishes ,how to select wines to them and how to use kitchen equipment and appliances. Hotel technicians and their teachers, working in 3- or 4- star hotels will deal with guests in reception, serve breakfast and prepare rooms for receiving guests. Tourist services technicians will get acquainted with tourist attractions of the region, will plan the tour around it and make an outdoor game for the tourist agency they work for. All the teachers will get acquainted with the vocational education systems of the partner countries and teachers within job shadowing will additionally observe teaching methods used in vocational subjects. All the project participants will see tourists attractions and will learn about culture during tours round the regions of their stay and other activities organised after work. Polish students and teachers will cook Polish lunch followed by the presentation on our culture and culinary traditions. After each mobility, the series of actions, disseminating the results of the project are planned. Both students and teachers will be sharing their experience by organizing culinary workshops and showing the presentation about hotels and tourist attractions of the regions to other students of our school, for students of the culinary school, teaching youth with special educational needs , for Junior High School students. They will also organize a culinary show followed by the degustation for seniors and disabled people from the Old People’s Home in Toruń. The students and teachers from tourist profile will make brochures promoting tourist attractions of the regions
