Povzetek
Reason: Competing demands and pressure on limited fresh water resources as well as lack of adequate distribution of natural gas (as demonstrated by the current energy crises in Europe in 2009), clearly raise the demands for new pipeline systems in central Europe in order to create a sustainable and predefined distribution of gas. These two huge transportation phenomena’s require within several large fields only medium to low pressure piping up to 25 bar, where utilization of newplastic material and joining technologies significantly improve existing distribution systems.Main aims: Increase the number of certified welders within the plastic welding sector. Demonstrate the relevance of European harmonized education within the plastic welding society, and implement new pedagogical methods into the VET schools in NO, SK and SL. Partnership: The consortium has a strong industrial presence with strong ties to training organizations (Vitec), distance learning methods, blended learning, video technologies (HiST), and plastic welding industry (MHtE, VuZ and IZV) leading to identification of inadequacies in current training systems and standards for effective instructor training delivery. The partnership has complementary expertise and tasks. They have cooperated successfully previously. Staff from MHtE and HiST were key partners in the Hamster project. Outcomes: i) Multilingual plastic welding courses which will increase the competence and knowledge in the welding community, ii) Level specific instructor training to VET schools and in-company trainers, iii) Disseminating new pedagogical methodologies exploring advanced video streaming technology, digital blackboards and harmonized skills transfer within a set of training courses towards SME´s, iv) EuroPlast portal based up on European standards, and vi) National seminars that promote European harmonized guidelines in order to secure free movement of personnel. Impact: Increase the attractiveness of plastic welding education, and strengthen the European VET system for this purpose. Demonstrate use of training principles that ultimately benefit staff that need to combine training with work, family and social activities. This will especially benefit women who have traditionally been educated as welders outside the traditional school system.
