Povzetek
The Faculty of Law of the University of Maribor is restructuring its current studying programmes in line with the Bologna process for the reform of educational programmes. This presents an opportunity to adapt the EU Law studies programme in accordance with contemporary needs of young law graduates in Slovenia. For this reason, we are proposing the introduction of several new courses on EU Law, which would be covered by the Jean Monnet Chair as well as to expand our research activities in this field. The purpose of the proposal is to enhance students’ knowledge of EU Law, not only the theory, but also to teach them how to apply the knowledge in hypothetical and actual legal cases (using methods of case-studies, mooting exercises, discussion tables etc.). The proposed courses would be performed in different years of studies, both at undergraduate as well as at postgraduate level, and would enable a progressive development of students’ understanding of EU Law.• The core objectives to be achievedThe Faculty of Law would introduce the following three new courses on EU/EC Law: 1) Internal Market Law, 2) Judicial Remedies in EC/EU Law and 3) EU Administrative Law. These courses would be introduced in addition to the already existing general course on EU Law, which mostly covers EU institutional and constitutional Law. In the framework of these new courses, conferences and round tables with EU Law experts would be organised, thus promoting EU Law studies and research. In addition to this, EU Law courses in English will be introduced to enable full participation of exchange students in the lectures. The Jean Monnet Chair would also offer support to student teams participating in the European Law Moot Court Competition, which would form part of the Jean Monnet teaching activities.
