Povzetek
The Media Masters initiative aims to increase media literacy and civic engagement across nine EU countries, by addressing diverse groups such as primary and secondary school children, college students, educators, and journalists. The project has a practical focus, with a multilingual board game and a mobile app mimicking real-world media and news scenarios, simulating fake and misleading news and social media content, and helping users develop critical thinking skills and recognise mis/disinformation. Both the board game and the app are designed to be cost-effective, assuring their continuing usage once the project is completed. The initiative, which is divided into five work packages, includes 45 events and a final meeting in Brussels. More than 3,000 people will attend these events, which will serve as places for learning, debates and conversations on media literacy and fake news, as well as an opportunity to build publicprivate partnerships. The initiative focuses on engaging young people, a generation that is generally considered difficult to engage in civic dialogues. We hope to stimulate this group into being proactive citizens by establishing a culture of open discourse and debate through our events and digital platforms. Through these projects, we want to bridge the gap between younger people and civic involvement while also providing significant data for continuous study and feedback, the results of which will be published globally. Twelve partners from eight European countries collaborate on this project, which is inclusive, committed to gender equality and non-discrimination. With its abundance of expertise in implementing large-scale projects, the consortium has created strong decision-making and communication procedures. In brief, the project aims to improve media literacy and civic involvement. Its pragmatic, adaptive, and inclusive strategy establishes a solid foundation for future projects in this area.
