Abstract
This project deals with business process assessment and improvement in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). According to adopted development strategy of Republic of Serbia competitive market economy is based on the development of SMEs. Research indicates that the number of SMEs with experience less than two years (most of the companies from business incubators) is very small and that those companies need help with the initiation and development of business. In this project, support for those companies is realized through development and implementation of software tools for analyzing and improving business processes. Software tools are based on methods and techniques from the domains of software engineering, soft computing and operational research. Benefits from process improvement include: increasing the quality of products and services, better customer relationships management, increasing customer satisfaction, reduction of costs, increasing productivity, more efficient use of resources in the organization (human resources, equipment, time), as well as better cooperation between the people and teams. Improving business processes in the company indirectly affects the improvement of their customers’ business.
