Abstract
The objective of the present project is to develop a new teslameter, which shall substantially push the limits in the field of high-accuracy measurements of magnetic flux density vector. The new teslameter shall consist of an integrated 3-axis Hall probe, an external electronic module, digital-to-analog converter, and a computer with appropriate software. The teslameter shall have the following unique characteristics: by far the smallest 3-axis Hall probe; by far the highest special resolution; the highest frequency bandwidth; among the best magnetic resolution; among the best absolute accuracy; and by far the best performance – price ratio. The magnetic field probe of the teslameter shall be realized in high voltage 0.35mm CMOS technology. The probe shall incorporate several vertical and horizontal Hall elements, amplifiers, and switches. The exceptional low noise of the probe will be achieved by a novel partitioning of the on-chip and off-chip functions of the magnetometer, by optimizing the design of the Hall elements, and by improving the spinning-current technique. AD conversion shall be performed early in the signal path, and most of signal processing shall be done within the computer. The teslameter shall be applied for high-resolution magnetic measurements in many scientific and industrial R&D laboratories in the world.
