Abstract
The research topics are cables and cable accessories. Due to limitations in the production of power cables, they are produced and delivered in several separate lengths which have to be connected or terminated properly. At these places the electric field is very high. Cable accessories are considered as the weakest part of a cable system. Based on previous experiences, the new hybrid boundary elements method will be applied in combination with the method of equivalent electrodes. According to calculated numerical values, the original cable accessories will be modeled and significant reduction of the electric field in the cable termination will be carried out. ? new form of multi-insulation deflector will be proposed. It will shape the electric field and potential, and thus increase the energy efficiency of the power system itself. In the experimental part of the project, measurements will be carried out in order to verify the results obtained numerically. Modeled and produced prototype will be subjected to load tests, and after confirming the reliability of modeled systems, the mass production will be carried out. Special attention will be given to results monitoring for aging cables and cable accessories. A part of the project relates to the partial discharge monitoring as one of the most common causes of the cable head destruction.
