Abstract
The global processes and technical advancements of power sector have established new technical and technological research and development requirements. The basic requirement is energy efficiency improvement, reliability and availability of power resources. This is achieved by testing and diagnozing the production and transmission units, i.e., generators and transformers, in order to make transition from individual and intermittent measurements to highly integrated and automatized measuring systems sticking to modern trends that comprise, wherever is possible, implementing state maintenance. The project is divided into four subprojects: the decrease of power and energy losses in generators, block-transformers and electrical motors of self consumption; the remote monitoring of generators and transformers; the analysis of selectivity and coordination of electrical protection systems at power plants; the increase in energy efficiency and reliability by measuring, analyzing and adjusting of parameters of turbine regulation and excitation regulation. Each of the subprojects is divide into a number of subjects that represents self-contained units. Basically, the project deals with the increase of energy efficiency, reliability and availability of EPS power plants using most recent measuring methods, modern measuring equipment and complex measuring systems and processes of testing of generators and transformers developed here.
