Abstract
According to all relevant documents and expert analysis, all the world’s oil reserves will be exhausted by the year 2050. Coal remains one of the rare fossil fuel used at the present. There are enough coal reserves in our country as the highest energy potential. In production of electric power, coal is currently involved with over 60% and remains our primary energy potential to the point of finding technological operational alternative energy sources. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the possibility of utilization of the remaining coal reserves in order to define the quantity, quality and providing technical and technological solutions for exploitation in the future, and thus provide the energy stability of the Republic of Serbia.
