Abstract
Before and after the Second World War in Serbia were built a large number of small hydro power plants. A certain number of small hydro power plants are nowadays out of operation, because some vital objects are outdated, and production of energy became too expensive. On other operating small hydro power plants it is necessary to accomplish the revitalization as soon as possible in order to produce cheaper electric energy. Considering all it is necessary, in order to obtain an order in building small hydro power plants and to raise their power level and energy capability, to inspect and review certain existing objects and measure their operating parameters. In this way we could obtain a starting data which are necessary for the revitalization of the facility. For one, chosen object, it would be accomplish the revitalization of hydraulic turbine, and according to requirement, it would be designed a new one. The operating characteristics of the new turbine would be obtained by numerical simulations of fluid flow through the hydraulic turbine. Also, after installing the turbine at the small power plant, it would be measured operating characteristics of the turbine. Finally it would be performed an analysis of the justification for rebuilding this facility and it would be published data which refers to improvement of installed power of the small hydro power plant.
