Abstract
The subject of the research is the development of covering and core production technology of standard and special coated electrodes for steel arc welding. The production technology of covering and core on the bases of local (domestic) non-metallic and metallic raw materials contains the development of covering components of alkali and acid (rutile) types with optimal component amounts for formation of dross, gases, deoxidation, denitration, desulfurization and stabilizing of the electric arc. The above two types of coating are used to produce standard electrodes with steel wire cores, as well as specialized electrodes with cored wire cores. The core of the specialized covered electrodes is made from a new generation of cored wires that fulfill the general requirements asked for of all materials for welding. The expected results of the project are the development of technologies for making coated electrodes (conventional and special). The effects expected from the replacement of full wire with cored core wire for making cores for special electrodes are reflected in the possibility of introducing required amounts of alloying elements and activators for the production of low alloyed and middle alloyed special electrodes. The level of quality of electrodes for arc welding is determined using the method for determining the quality of welded joints and surfacing (destructive and non-destructive tests) and applying methods for testing welding and technological characteristics.
