Abstract
Sustainable end-of-life vehicle recycling is a significant material resource for national economy, basis for continuous environmental improvements, as well as the opportunity for improving competitiveness of the national economy. This project is continuation of the successful project ??21039, which has successfully established new and sustainable ELV recycling system in Serbia through development of legislative, organizational and investment framework for this most dynamic industrial and investment field. This is experimental theory project by nature, with a strong emphasis on design of the equipment currently needed in Serbia and in the region (Russia). Increasing efficiency of the recycling network (mobile ELV balers), equipment that meets legal requirements for extraction of hazardous materials from ELVs, as well as the shredders for extraction of non-ferrous metals from electrical and electronic components are the topics of the project. First sub-project is theoretical and it investigates recycling technologies portfolio. Second, third and fourth sub-projects deal with experimental – developmental issues related to developing mobile balers for processing ELVs and other metal waste, development of the shredders for recycling electrical and electronic waste and development of technologies for removing toxic materials and fluids from ELVs. Results of this project increase competitiveness of the national mechanization manufacturers and decrease Serbian trade deficit.
