Abstract
Air transport significantly influences on air quality caused by aircraft engine emission in airport vicinity. Those emissions are generated not only by aircraft, but other transportation means, handling and landing equipment, ground power unit, fuel cisterns, baggage tractors and other sources related to airport airside and landside. The most important factors (especially in LTO (landing and takeoff below 3000ft) cycles realization) in aircraft engine emission are: oxides of nitrogen (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), oxides of sulphur (SOx), etc. Other sources related to use of fossil fuels significantly increase emission indexes around airports. The second important environment problem caused by aircraft operations is risk of accident or incident caused by damage on third parties. The proposed project is focused on solving both described environmental problems by establishing environmental management system framework respect to aircraft engine emissions and risk of aircraft accidents around airports in Serbia.
