Abstract
The subject of the proposed research will be integrated design of structural systems in architecture and the application of new building technologies. The integrated design of structures includes mechanical, physical, economical, energetic, health and environmental aspects, providing quality during the life cycle, reducing negative impact on environment by reduction of resources consumption and improvement of the building in functional and aesthetic sense, in accordance with European strategy for sustainable development. Framework for research is based on three variables: system form - geometry, behavior of structural system and unique features of the applied materials. The focus of the research will be on the application of ferrocement in architecture. Based on the mentioned above, the objectives of the proposed research are: establishing a methodology for the integrated design of load-bearing structures; determination of the optimal structural forms and optimal forms of structural elements, for the applied materials - PBDC; design of structural materials according to the requirements of individual applications – PDDA; application of the verified results on the level of prototypes or realized buildings. Designing in this way will have as a result new rational structural systems, along with reduction of material and energy use, reduction of building cost, as well as establishing new adequate building technologies, so the proposed solutions-investments can be effective.
