Abstract
Sustainable forest management is the imperative of the relations to forests in contemporary conditions. Sustainability is defined as a dynamic process which includes forests utilization and by that maintenance of biodiversity, productivity, regeneration capacity and vitality, satisfying ecological, economic and social functions of both today and future generations, preserving other ecosystems. In order to realize the possibility of providing strict or moderate sustainability it is necessary to provide reliable information about quantitative and qualitative values of certain indicators which define more accurately criteria for evaluation of intensity and possibility for providing principles of sustainability. The only way that provides this is the exact approach, researching on chosen level all complex characteristics of a forest as a natural system and process, on the one hand, and on the other hand complexity of activities and income in a forest and forestry. Chosen locality for the realization of this project is Timok forest region, Forest enterprise Boljevac under the management of JP “Srbijašume”. Expected financial effect, increased annually with approximately 5.000.000 € clearly indicates justifiability of the investment in the project realization.
