Abstract
The occurrence of dangerous zoonotic diseases is one of the most important problems of public health with whom the mankind is facing today. Nevertheless the zoonotic diseases have been well known through millenniums, only recently there is occurrence of new zoonosis and new variations of already existing pathogens (emerging and reemerging zoonotic diseases). From 1700 pathogens which cause the disease in humans, 49% are zoonotic, 156 are biological agents, 73 are zoonotic and can be used as biological weapons on humans, animals and plants. Since recently there have been notifications of occurrence of new zoonosis and variations of already existing ones ( Influeza, SARS, Nipah, HIV, Hendra, Ebola, Denga, Marburg). Especially dangerous infectious diseases of human and animals can occur everywhere in the world, and the consequences can be extreme. Epizootiology and epidemiology of zoonosis are always current issue of one country, because they show the economical status and current social situation and therefore are in correlation. These diseases occur suddenly, as the result of crossing barriere species, in climate factors and genetic recombination of microorganisms. The potential infectious power and spread of these diseases is not well known yet. Viral vector borne zoonotic diseases are present in countries in the region (West Nile fever, Influenza etc.), and the actual distribution in Serbia is not known and yet to be determined.
