Abstract
The project is divided in 3 sub-projects : (1)development of methods, techniques and devices for increased sensitivity detection of pathological malignant lesions (2)early detection of skin cancer, and (3)early detection of malignant lesions in cervix, colon and oral cavity. In the first year of the project, already developed method and device based on a digital image (DI) will be used for melanoma detection, and technical solutions based on a combination of DI and spectrometry (SP) will be tested in diagnostic. In the second year cancer screening will be done in 4 to 15 health centers in Serbia, while in subproject 1 prototype device for clinical use based on integrated hardware-software solution (DI&SP) will be made. In the third year of project, subprojects 2 and 3 will do research of clinical prototype use (C-DI-SP); subproject 1 will work on developing device for “self-checking” based on excitation-emission characteristic (EEC) of healthy and unhealthy tissue. In the fourth year, subprojects 2 and 3 will do clinical testing (C-DI&SP) and (SP-EEC) device (compared to histopathology), while sub-project 1 will make prototype improvements, create documentation and write patent registration documents. The main goal of the project is to develop reliable clinical device for improved sensitivity in detection of pathological malignant lesions (optical biopsy) and “self-checking” detector which will provide information about possible pathological state of acquired tissue image.
