Abstract
The objective of this project is to secure increased competiveness in food quality and safety by improving contemporary biotechnological processes in feed production. This will be achieved by using interdisciplinary approach and integrating basic, developmental and applied research. Investigations will focuse on utilisation and increase in nutritive value of raw materials, choice and validation of methods for raw material evaluation, valorisation of by-products and waste products into safe feed, optimisation of technological processes of feed production, in order to enable production of food with increased concentration of specific nutrients with formulated activity of bioactive components as well as optimisation of physical forms of ingredients needed for achievement of desired structure and composition of final products. The result of the project will be safe, competitive, functional, nutritious food of animal origin that contributes to human health, animal well-being and environment protection. To enable application of results into practice, guides for good manufacturing and good hygiene practice will be created. Significant role in this project will have investigation of social, economical and ecological aspects for sustainable development of studied processes, as well as investigation of demand on the market, uplifting the awareness of consumers and manufacturers and harmonization of legislation with EU.
