Abstract
Subject of research: Examining the influence of public policy in Serbia on citizens’ social welfare and sustainable economic growth. Expected outcome of research: Improving scientific knowledge in the field of public policy; creating scientific basis for the formulation of adequate public policy in Serbia. Project realization First year: Analysis of theoretical and methodological framework of contemporary public policy concepts and their developments in the context of major socio-economic changes in the world in the 20th century; the analysis of socio-economic changes in Serbia in the period of political and economic transition. Second year: Assessment of current public policy in Serbia in respect to its goals, instruments, makers; evaluating policy with methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis: examining the public policy compliance with socio-economic needs of population; examining budget and non-budget funding of public goods on national and local government levels. Third year: Comparative analysis of public policy in Serbia and other West Balkans countries with respect to its compliance with EU standards in the fields of: regional cooperation in South-East Europe, citizens’ social safety, employment, local regional development policy, environment, energy and informing public through media. Fourth year: proposal for formulation of advancing institutional framework for the creation and implementation of public policy in Serbia.
