Abstract
The subject of research is the quality and accessibility of education in modernization processes in Serbia in the context of pursuing the current goals of country’s social development: affirmation of national interests in raising young generations and support to Serbia’s integration with the European Union. Research is planned with the aim of answering the question how the society can develop and engage potentials of the young through education, focusing on and being carried out as three subprojects: quality and efficiency of education; accessibility, equity and participation in education; professional development of teachers. Theoretical, comparative, empirical, experimental and action research of these educational issues will be conducted, from the viewpoint of pedagogy, psychology, sociology and other social sciences. Scientific and practical research results are expected. Scientific results refer to providing a theoretical framework for drafting and designing a more efficient and more effective process of education, which will support development of relevant competences in all participants in the process and endorse a creative approach on all system levels. Practical results comprise pedagogical implications for changing the existing educational policy and practice, suggesting changes in organization of education system and raising its quality.
