Abstract
The subject of interdisciplinary research conducted within the project "Crime in Serbia: Phenomenology, Risks and Possibilities of Social Intervention" could be defined as: 1) identification and analysis of the crime picture in Serbia, its trends and risks; 2) economical, social and personal risk and protection factors that significantly contribute either to the enhancement or to the deterrence of violent, organized, high-tech and economical crime; 3) analyzing current and suggesting innovative and advanced preventive models for these forms of crime and their evaluation; 4) defining, precise tracking and measuring indicators of social exclusion and deprivation, along with analyzing various aspects of social inclusion (such as economical, political and media); 5) analyzing the possibilities of social intervention and state reaction to crime, particularly in the field of penal legislation, assessing penal legislation`s actual preventive capacities and proposing new normative solutions. The most significant expected results would be: establishing a more reliable picture about the most influential crime factors; creating new preventive models for all and especially for the most serious forms of crime; proposing a new model of state reaction to crime; suggesting optimal long-term solutions for the decrease of crime rate; creating action plans that would represent a concrete assistance in the process of making state decisions related to the deterrence of further increase of crime.
