Abstract
According to the report of the USA CDCP on morbidity in the U.S.A. for 2005 physical inactivity was indicated as the first risk factor for health damage and occurrence of chronic non-communicable diseases. Acceptance of healthy life style that involves physical activity, healthy diet and avoiding smoking, can prevent occurrence of diseases or facilitate treatment, while, on the other side a deteriorated general health status of an individual directly negatively affects all other spheres of human community functioning with regard to the economic, social, security, educational and even nation-affirmative aspect of our society. According to the research of the Institute of Public Health of Serbia about the prevalence of risk factors in the population of the R Serbia in 2006, the leading risk factors for the development of chronic non-communicable diseases was physical inactivity (67.7%). The fact that almost 3 of the adults are physically inactive, and that physical activity is a direct prevention and therapy for almost 60% of mortality causes in Serbia once again confirmed its importance. It is therefore necessary to define at national level the most effective program content and methodological procedures of the applied physical activity and its association with musculoskeletal, metabolic, psycho-social and educational status, which should lead to establishing standards for certain age categories of the population in the Republic of Serbia.
