Abstract
The project is an inquiry into conflicts, crises, cooperation and development in Serbia and in the region. Conflicts are understood as wars, revolutions, ethnic, religious and political struggles whose causes, dynamics, settlements and consequences for Serbia and the region would be analyzed. The impact of global conflicts and international relations on conflicts in the Balkans will be analyzed as well. Different crises and their impact on Serbian state and society will also be the subject of investigation, from natural catastrophes (draughts, floods, fires, earthquakes, ecological crises) to political crises of identity and authority of institutions and individuals. Particular attention would be given to a wider context of global crises and developmental tendencies and their influence on Serbia and the region. On the other hand, the project researches development of the state and its institutions, modernization of the society, economics and culture, cooperation and integrations, as well as the connection of this development with European and global trends. Positive, as well as negative experience of conflicts and crises would be systematized and evaluated in order to assist security assessments and advance the process of governmental decision making, as well as to contribute to cooperation through emphasizing the positive examples of cooperation in the Balkans.
