Abstract
Content of the project are experimental investigation of frontiers of nuclear physics, nuclear methods and its application in collaboration with foreign centers of excellence (COE) and using scientific infrastructure of Institute Vinča, Laboratory for Radionuclides Metrology (LRM) and ECE Laboratory. Main research topics related to the nuclear physics are investigation of properties of exotic nuclei based on model calculations and experiments on heavy-ion reactions and synthesis of super-heavy elements, as well as the expertise in ion-optics, gas-filled mass separators, charged particle, gamma-ray and neutron detector systems, nuclear astrophysics. Planed objectives will be accomplished through collaboration with GSI (Germany), GANIL (France), RIKEN (Japan), University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain)), Instute of Nuclear Physics, NCSR “Demokritos“, Athens, (Greece) and through participation in projects: SPIRAL2, FAIR and EURISOL. The main activities of LRM will be on development and improvement of precise and sensitive methods for activity measurements (coincidence summing method), application of gamma spectrometry in nuclear and atomic data evaluation, in a field of radioecology, application of nuclear methods in characterization of new materials. LRM expertise, instrumentation and methods development will be used in control of the quality of environment, food and products according to EU legislative. The project will result in 4 PhD theses.
