Abstract
Production of animal products is a very important branch of the global economy worth hundreds of billions of Euros. The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), increasing globalization, falling prices of animal and other agricultural products and more sophisticated and more health conscious consumers are driving the search for new technical-technological solutions. Such solutions should contribute to production of healthy and safe product of excellent quality and lower cost. The main task of this project proposal is improvement of livestock production (ruminants), by implementation of new knowledge and technologies (improvement of existing and obtaining of new technologies and final products, with special focus on optimization and standardization of autochthonous technologies in cattle, sheep and goat production). Research will include the possibility of improvement of existing and development of new technologies of processing of domestic raw materials of animal origin into new highly valuable final food products which can compete according to their nutritive, chemical and microbiological quality on domestic and foreign markets. The modern technological procedures in the field of specific feeds, content and sources of non-degradable proteins and certain amino-acids, organically bound selenium and omega 3 fatty acids, will result in obtaining of highly valuable functional products.
