Abstract
Corrosion of copper and its alloys in acidic, neutral and alkaline solution will be investigated in this project. Aim of this research is to found conditions and inhibitors which leads to corrosion decrease. Organic compounds from triazole, tetrazole, imidazole, thiazole and thiadiazole group will be used as inhibitors of copper and its alloys corrosion. Most of these compounds are toxic and environmental pollutants, so in order to reduce pollution nontoxic and environmental friendly compounds base of amino acids will be used. Nontoxic compounds like purine and amino acids will be studied like corrosion inhibitors in sulphate and chloride solutions. Amino acids are relatively cheap and easy to produce compounds, which don’t affect environment. Electrochemical and gravimetric methods will be applied to determine inhibition efficiency of tested inhibitors in various media. The goal of proposed project is investigation of mechanisms of inhibitor action and formation of protective surface films. Regarding loss resulting from metals corrosion application of those compounds for corrosion prevention in aggressive media is economically acceptable. Besides, application of thymol as inhibitor of sulfide minerals, primarily pyrite, dissolution, because uncontrolled dissolution of these minerals pollutes environment, will be researched
