Abstract
The aminocarboxylate ligands will be used for syntheses, spectral and crystallographic characterization of the complexes with some biological important transition metal ions. In particular, the complex formation in the reactions of Au(III), Pd(II) and Pt(II) ions, and their square-planar complexes, with peptides and amino acids will be investigated by different spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques. The reactions will be carried out in the pH range 2.0 - 10.0 in water solution and at different temperatures. The solid forms of the metal-ligand complexes present in solution as dominant species will be characterized by X-ray crystallography. In addition, the hydrolytic reactions between square-planar Pt(II) and Pd(II) complexes and L-histidine- and L-methinine-containing peptides will be investigated with different spectroscopic techniques. All reactions will be carried out at different pH values and different temperatures. The reactions between Pt(II) antitumor complexes and methionine- and histidine-containg peptides will be investigated under physiological conditions of the pH and temperature. Electrochemical insight into the interactions of curcumin and serotonin with DNA in the presence of some metal ions will be investigated. Different types of sensors and biosensors will be used for investigations in aqueous and non-aqueous media.
