Abstract
Disorders of the thoracoabdominal aorta and its branches, both of the steno-occlusive and aneurysmatic origin, represent important vascular disorders that could directly endanger patient’s life or result in severe disability. The goal of our research is to contribute to the elucidation of the causes and development of these disorders using a multidisciplinary approach based on the current scientific knowledge. The specific objectives are as follows: 1. Epidemiological study and ultrasound-based screening of patients at risk for aneurysmatic aortic disease. 2. Analysis of the biomechanical and biochemical parameters of the aneurysmatic wall of the aorta 3. Development of the practitioners friendly software preventing complications of endovascular treatment of aortic aneurisms of complex morphology. 4. Determination of the genetic and clinical markers of the initial atherosclerosis of carotid arteries. 5. Pathohistological and biochemical evaluation and differentiation of patients with a chronic occlusion of the abdominal aorta. 6. Evaluation of the methods designed to protect the spinal cord during surgery on the thoracoabdominal aorta. Results of this study should answer questions regarding the frequency of these disorders in our country, timely detection of the diseases, and identification of patients at risk, as well as contribute to the current understanding of the etiopathogenesis and treatment approaches.
