Abstract
Genital anomalies take an important role in contemporary medicine. A great number of congenital and acquired anomalies of male and female genitals as well as their treatment are a part of specific field in medicine. The importance of these anomalies is great, regarding all the potential complications in functional, but also in psychosocial and psychosexual aspects. All of these details make this field interesting in search of new and better solutions of their treatment. Also, the long-term follow up of these patients enable the best estimation of the achieved surgical results. Analysis of the new surgical techniques, comparison of the results with the results from different medical centers in the world, as well as survey related to overall patient’s satisfaction using the latest psychological, psychosexual and psychosomatic tests, can lead to a conclusion which could point out the improvement of the results in the treatment of these anomalies. One of the most important chapters presents the search of the cause for their development, where we need to think about genetic examinations, embryological aspects, as well as potential changes in brain centers which can influence on appearance of certain malformations.
