Abstract
Scientific data support concept that expression of factors produced by the developing blastocyst and the endometrium, allows intercell communication, making successful nidation possible. Worldwide contemporary research addresses this important new area of investigation. Basic proteomic studies are designed to further understand the molecular mechanisms underlying this issue, aiming to discover and validate diagnostic and prognostic disorder biomarkers. Recently developed techniques allow us to apply new methods with capacity to define profile and quantify individual human oocyte and embryos proteome as well as the secretome, indicating blastomere’s metabolic status. Consequently, it is possible to develop a variety of protein marker assays predicting success of implantation, decreasing the need for invasive procedures previously used for embryo selection. Same could be applied to increase rate of adverse pregnancy outcomes associated with pregnancies conceived by assisted reproductive techniques. These outcomes were predominantly attributed to increased rate of multiple gestations, while majority of singleton pregnancies conceived by IVF seem to be uncomplicated. Recent meta-analysis suggested otherwise. Dilemma remains weather this is consequence of ART itself or the underline cause of infertility. The aim of this investigation is to develop and integrate these techniques in human reproductive area in order to achieve better results in IVF produced pregnancies.
