Abstract
The project is concerned with the phenomena, processes, notions and ideas involved in the creation of particular cultural models in the late medieval Balkans. In terms of subject and method, the project is placed into a broad research framework, takes an integrated approach, and addresses several topical issues in medieval studies: the cult of saints and devotional practices; literary topoi; religious mentality; royal ideology and institutions; visual culture; and particular socio-cultural phenomena in a period from the 13th to the 17th century. The main goal is to expand current knowledge and gain fresh insights into a set of questions hitherto little or inadequately studied in Serbian medievalist scholarship both at the factual level and at that of methodology and interpretation. The expected results will take the form of monographs, contributions to edited thematic volumes, scholarly journals, domestic and international conferences, and MA and PhD theses. Within the international ENArC Project the creation and presentation will continue of a digital database of medieval Serbian charters.
