Abstract
In Serbia, milk production is organized on farms of various capacities mutually differing relevant to agroecological, zootechnical and production conditions. Having in mind the heterogeneity in the utilization of resource and lack of uniformity in applied technological procedures, the goal of the project is to upgrade sustainability of milk production by optimization of technological procedures and zootechnical resources on farms of various capacities. Technological procedures that will be considered are selection of animals, animal feed preparation and nutrition, milking process and pos milking procedures with milk, as well as zoohygiene and animal health protection procedures. Zootechnical resources subject to research are genetic potentials of animals, animal housing, attitude of breeders toward animals, organization of production, quality of animal feed, protection of welfare and health. The expected results of adequate optimization of selection procedures, animal nutrition and animal housing and care are achieving more efficient production results (improvement of feed conversion for milk production by 4-6%, increase daily milk yield by 3-5%, increase overall butterfat yield by 2%, protein yield by 2%) and defining and implementation of standard operating procedures for housing conditions, welfare and health protection on dairy farms.
