Abstract
The Project for “Etymological Research into the Serbian Language and Compilation of the Etymological dictionary of Serbian” (ERSJ) is aimed at elucidating the history, ultimate origin, and original semantics of the entire vocabulary of the Serbian language, including words inherited from the Proto Slavic and Proto Indo-European periods, as well as the later ones, created within Serbian during its history or borrowed from other languages through various epochs. Narrower thematic framework: etymology (Serbian, Slavic, Balkan, Indo-European), lexicology and lexicography, language history, dialectology, comparative linguistics. Interdisciplinary relations with ethnology, folkloristics, archaeology, cultural history.
