Abstract
The major concern of this project is a twofold textual and interpretative analysis of media and dramatic arts (theatre, film, radio, TV, new media) texts produced in Serbia in the period from 1989 (the beginning of the transitional years) into the 21st century. The research is textocentric – focused on the texts as sites of the construction, representation and inscription of (transcultural) national identity and memory. In addition, it is of a sociocentric nature, i.e. through the prism of (trans)cultural and institutional policy. The subjects in question are understood as the spaces of mediation and interaction of national identity and memory in their transcultural developments and in relation to cultural policy. The expected theoretical and scientific outcomes include: the development of studies of theatre and performance; analytical methods in film and television studies as well as radio and new media; theorizing cultural political practices that shaped production in this period; historicisation of the transcultural development of identity and cultural cooperation in Europe. Applications of this new knowledge would be for the development of higher education curriculum and the theory and practice of cultural policy and institutions. Practical outcomes include publishing bilingual collections of research papers; organization of a number of scientific debates in Serbia and throughout Europe, as well as the creation of a research network and website.
