Dialectological Research of the Serbian Linguistic Space

The research object of this project is systematic and all encompassing study of the dialectological complex on the whole Serbian ethnic and language space, including compiling and studying of the language material in Diasporas, as well. The special attention would be paid to collection and salvation of the Serbian language treasures from the areas which the Serbs, due to the latest wars, had temporarily left (ex Yugoslav republics of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, autonomous region of Kosovo and Metohija). By this long term project, the systematical collection and study of the onomastic material (toponims, antrhroponims, patronimics) in the field would continue. In shortest, the research subject is collection and study of the language material unused so far, which had already been collected or should be collected in the future on the whole Serbian ethnic and language space. That means continuation of study of the language material already collected within the activities of the scientific committees and boards of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (mainly of the Inter Academic Committee for the Dialectological Atlases and Onomastic Committee). The language facts already collected within scope of the activities of the scientific committees of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts represent the base for preparation of the Serbian Dialectology Atlas and Serbian Onomastic Dictionary.
