Abstract
This is a research project which emphasizes the application of new theoretical models in the technologically updated environment of a digital database. It will investigate the applicability of gender theory on research of literature, that is, on the literary texts themselves; on the history of literature as oral history; and on the reception and influences of women's writing. The intention is to open the issues which would connect this kind of investigation to the European projects such as COST Action IS0901 „Women Writers in History: Toward a New Understanding of European Literary Culture”, which includes a digital database on women's writing in Europe up to 1900: Women Writers in History http://neww.huygens.knaw.nl/. The principal objectives are: 1) to uncover and bring to light the history of Serbian women's literature, 2) to theorize its specific features and notions, while including a necessary theoretical re-modeling of the existing Western concepts and patterns. The project results should include 1) a trustworthy and resourceful digital database of Serbian women writers, created in line with the related European one, but adequately adapted to the women’s literature in Serbian, 2) a complete bibliography of Serbian women writers until 1915, 3) a collectively authored monograph with theoretical analyses.
