Abstract
This capital long-term project is dedicated to a thorough research of old Serbian written records from the Serbian Slavonic period. The research includes a vast language corpus of old Serbian (written) culture. Attention is focused on the writing system and monuments differentiated by genre, their language, lexical and semantic features of the texts. The long-term task is seen in the completion of the "Dictionary of Church Slavonic in the Serbian Recension", initiated in 1969 by an excerption of the Miroslav Gospel. The short-term goal is the completion of the alphabetical list of the Gospel lexis and the "Serbian Slavonic Gospel Dictionary". The Institute is also planning a bibliographic and catalogue list and description of sources for the Serbian Slavonic dictionary, a collection of bibliographic data on Serbian diachronic linguistics, edition and publication of old texts, digitisation of old written records, completion of studies and monographs dedicated to the writing system and literacy, grammatical and lexical facts from the diachronic area, then the research and development of cognitive techniques that will facilitate the understanding of old Serbian texts, participation in international Slavic projects dedicated to the matters of ancient Slavonic written heritage and integration of the Church Slavonic lexical indices of all national recensions, according to the fundamental goals and pledges set down at the Fourth International Congress of Slavicists (Moscow 1958).
