Abstract
The subjects of research are the capacities and shortcomings of Serbia’s political institutions in the process of international integrations. The goal of the project is to monitor performance of major political system institutions: parliament, government, public and local (self)government institutions, parties and other political actors. The research variables and indicators are the modernization and reform capacities of political institutions, political subjects and elites in public policy design, the matrices of Serbian citizens’ participative and national political culture, as well as civil capital. The analysis focuses on the functioning of key political actors, towards the goal of consistent reshaping of political institutions and public policy in Serbia, in line with consolidation of democracy and strengthening of integration capabilities, both on the national and international level. The research of political institutions explores correlations between constitutional and redistributive policy and the compatibility of Serbia’s national and state identity in the context of regional and international integrations. The results will be shown in a variety of analytical, comparative, theoretical and applicative studies, providing practical guidelines, advices and support for the modernization of Serbia’s political institutions, based on principles of efficient, transparent and legitimate governance and harmonization with the democratic standards of developed societies.
