Abstract
This project tries to maintain continuity in the study of European dimensions of changes in education system in Serbia, aiming to create a quality, functional, and inclusive system supported by educational tradition and cultural heritage, on one hand, and the experience and achievements of European and transitional countries, on the other. The focus is on the control of quality, availability and democratization of education in the learning society. The subject matter is defined as introduction to European Higher Education Area, as a new developing setting, and to European standards of quality control, as the centre point of current educational reforms, from the viewpoint of re-examining our own education system. It also includes modelling of strategies for control management and implementation of the European solutions, which could improve the education system in Serbia and make it more competitive and compatible. The expected results are defined as comprehension of theoretical approaches, methodology, and empirically based, practical models of assessing and enhancing education quality. The goal is to create a coherent and comprehensive strategic framework of development of a quality education system, which relies on the finest solutions from national tradition and European achievements, for a complete harmonisation of education system in a unified European educational and research area.
