Abstract
The project objective is monitoring, analysis and coming up with an ever deeper foundation in the relationship between Serbia and European Union. This relationship is observed in a wider context of significant global changes in the contemporary world, the following of which should be specifically singled out: great financial and economic crisis, indications of dispersion of power and capital, as well as emergence of a multipolar world resulting from the rise of China, Turkey and BRIC countries, Euro crisis and uncertainty of further expansion and deepening of the EU following ratification of the Lisbon Treaty. The research is to cover four thematic units. 1. European studies and the European Union in contemporary international relations. 2. Theoretical paradigms concerning the understanding of Serbia in Europe, with special reference to development theories. 3. Serbia in regional and European integration processes. 4. The problem of identity of Serbia and Serbs in the contemporary world. Interdisciplinarity is basic methodological approach. Except basic theoretical purposes, connected to advancement of our science and monitoring of contemporary achievements in individual disciplines, the intention is to make the results have ever greater practical importance and usability in various domains of public administration, Concrete result of the project consists of 15 monographs, 150 scientific papers and three thematic collections.
