Changes in the social structure and mobility as factors of European integration of the Republic of Serbia, in particular AP Vojvodina

The main objective of this Project is to investigate the changes in the social structure and mobility in the Serbian society, in particular in AP Vojvodina, as well as to gain a better insight in these changes as factors of European integration of the Republic of Serbia. Various sociological methods and techniques (both quantitative and qualitative) will be used to research demographic changes, changes in the economic sphere, organizational changes, rural-urban changes, changes in the set of values and changes in the patterns of vertical social mobility. The expected results of the research Project are manifold. Firstly, the goal is to obtain deep and valid sociological insight about the changes in the social structure and mobility as relevant factors for the European integration; secondly, to include the younger researchers in the Project in order to improve their research skills and motivation so that they can use the experience in writing their doctoral theses. Thirdly, presenting the obtained results of the research to the scientific and wide audience will increase the knowledge about the Serbian society; it will improve the ability to make political decisions; it will have a positive impact on the preservation and development of the national identity; in the fourth place, it is expected that the mutual cooperation between Serbian sociologists and those from abroad will be increased.
