Abstract
The subject-matter of our project is the history of Serbian philosophy, that is, a critical and theoretical understanding of the development of philosophical ideas, institutions, manuscripts and magazines within Serbian culture, from the Middle Ages to the present time. The line of thought in this research is a conviction that there exists an identity and a continuity of Serbian philosophy, which has been formed through fruitful dialog with foreign philosophies, mostly European systems with their models, ideas and thinkers. There are seven fundamental topic and problem areas that are the subject of the analytic and systematic research of this project: (1) gathering and publishing a bibliography of Serbian philosophical literature; (2) relations between Serbian and other philosophies; (3) philosophical authors; (4) philosophical works and journals printed in the Serbian language; (5) philosophical manuscripts written in the Old Serbian language, or books of Serbian philosophers written in foreign languages; (6) philosophical disciplines and their interconnection with the sciences and other areas of human creativity; and (7) a history of relevant institutions, like Serbian universities or the Serbian Philosophical Society.
