Abstract
Current indicators of Serbian economy suggest that its competitiveness on a global scale is very low. Therefore, the purpose of the project is the research of the opportunities for competitiveness improvement based on networking competences of public and private sector in Serbia. Competitiveness based on connection of the key competencies of the subjects within the private sector, within the public sector, through their partnership and, particularly, their networking with the institutions and enterprises from the EU, are the basic directions of this research. The subject of the research is developing core competences of public and private sector in the function of increasing competitiveness as a necessary condition for more efficient integration of Serbia into the EU. Therefore, the aim of the project is to explore specific competences in public and private sector of Serbia, to identify their weaknesses and suggest ways of improving competitiveness. In order to achieve this goal, one must consider the complexity of various external and internal factors of the economic development of Serbia. The multidimensional and comprehensive approach to determinants of improving competitiveness is necessary. In accordance with the EU development policies, pointed out in Lisbon strategy, the conceptual framework of the research has been determined for improving competitiveness of the public and private sector in Serbia with the emphasis on five key research segments.
