Abstract
Advanced techniques for efficient spectrum use in wireless systems in the context of Cognitive Radio-CR are the subject of the project. Concept of the CR is based on the idea that a wireless network sense current spectrum occupancy and adjust transmission parameters to match to that occupancy, including the possibilities for unlicensed users to use licensed frequency bands. Spectrum sensing and dynamic spectrum allocation (spectrum management) techniques in CR, as well as improvement of performances of the existing spectrally efficient transmission techniques (MIMO, MB OFDM, UWB) from the aspect of its application in CR are the focus of the research. Development of new techniques for broadband collaborative space-time-frequency spectrum sensing, identification of signal parameters and dynamic spectrum allocation based on proposed spectrum sensing techniques and improvement of performances of MIMO, MB OFDM, UWB systems are the key objectives of the research. It is assumed that spectrum sensing has been performed by using a sensor network like in the SENDORA system (FP7 EU project). Practical realization of technological demonstrator of CR, that is based on development FPGA platform which will comprise of several primary users, distributed sensor network performing broadband collaborative spectrum sensing and dynamic spectrum allocation and cognitive radio link with implemented efficient transmission techniques and cognitive properties will be the key project result.
