Slobodan Milutinović is a full professor at the University of Niš. As a lecturer, he has guest lectured at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia (USA) as a Fulbright Foundation scholarship recipient, at the University of Padua (Italy), Darmstadt Technical University (Germany), Central European University in Budapest, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA), Moscow State University "Lomonosov," the University of Sofia, and Taurida National University in Simferopol (Ukraine). He is engaged in the issues of sustainable development, urban development, environmental protection, and adaptation to changing climate conditions. As an author and co-author, he has published twelve books, three of which were published abroad (in Germany, India, and Hungary), and over a hundred scientific and professional papers. He has undertaken specializations in the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Hungary. He has collaborated with United Nations agencies (UNEP, UNDP, UNICEF, UN Habitat, and others), the Open Society Institute - Local Government Initiative (OSI - LGI), the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), numerous foreign and domestic consulting firms on EU projects in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Jordan, and Tunisia, as well as other reputable national and international organizations. As one of the leading authors, he collaborated on the preparation of the Fifth Global Environmental Outlook GEO-5 as part of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). He led the development of Serbia's National Sustainable Development Strategy and worked as the lead consultant on the Green Agenda for Serbia, National Adaptation Plan, Strategy for Local Sustainable Development, and other national and local environmental policies. He initiated many environmental protection and sustainable development initiatives in Serbia and is actively involved in educating local authorities in the field of sustainable development. He was a member of the Advisory Committee of Local Communities of the Earth Charter, the International Association of Environmental Professors (AEESP), the European Association of Environmental Economists (EAERE), and the American Association of Urban Affairs (UAA).
