Institute for Paleoslavic culture

The Institute of Old Slavic Culture – Prilep is a public scientific institution dedicated to scientific research and higher education activities in the field of humanities and social sciences. Its primary activity is to conduct research activities of public interest in these scientific areas, with the aim of advancing general knowledge and promoting scientific knowledge about the historical and cultural identity of the Macedonian people. The research activities of the Institute are carried out in the scientific disciplines of archaeology, art history, ethnology, linguistics and history. It also makes a significant contribution to the creation, formation and improvement of the research capacities of the scientific staff, with a particular emphasis on researchers from the younger generation through their active involvement in the activities of the Institute. Since its inception, the Institute has stood out as a significant scientific center for multidisciplinary research on the cultural history of the Balkans. Through decades of research in the fields of archaeology, art history, history, ethnology and linguistics, a significant fund of systematically organized material has been created, consisting of field materials and documentation from the aforementioned fields. The primary goal of our institution's activities is to lay the foundation for the realization of fundamental research projects, through which specialized personnel from several scientific fields will be created, who will expand knowledge about the cultural and historical heritage of the Macedonian people, and at the same time will affirm scientific thought on a European and global scale.
