Biljana Ristovska-Josifovska is a Full professor, Head of the Department for Cultural History at the Institute of National History, a member of the Council of Institute of National History, and a coordinator of the PhD program Cultural History and Geography of Macedonia. Her research interests are: cultural history, migration studies, cultural-national processes, memory and politics of memory, identity, academic culture, historiography, Balcanology, and Caucasus and Black Sea studies. Except the Macedonian as her mother language, she is an active user of world and Balkan languages (English, Russian, French, Serbian, Bulgarian) and also uses three ancient languages: Old-Slavic, Latin and Old-Greek.
She was a Head of the Balkanology Department (2004–2018); and an initiator for establishing the Department for Cultural History. She served as a president of the Association of Historians of Republic of Macedonia (2008–2009); a professor and coordinator of MA study program (History of Culture), and the PhD studies (Cultural History of Macedonia, Cultural History and Geography of Macedonia); a member of various
professional commissions. Her work was also recognized as a member of Editorials of international scientific journals; an organizer of numerous scientific conferences; an author of more than 50 individual articles published in scientific journals and collections in Macedonia and abroad.

Academic Cultures in the Humanities: Europe and the Black Sea Region, Late 18th – 21st Centuries”, https://blacksearegion.eu); FP7 Seventh framework program of the European Community (“Politics of Memory and Memory Cultures of the Russian-Ottoman War /1877/1878: From Divergence to Dialogue/”, http://memoryrow.weebly.com); ASO Austrian Science and Research Liaison Offices (“Women and Minority Documentation and Digital Presentation - from Fragmented Data to Integration in the Information Society” http://www.history.swu.bg/aso.htm). She was part of the inter-academic collaboration of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and other national/international projects. Ristovska-Josifovska was involved within COST Actions: MC and Member of WG2 in “Women on the Move” (WEMov); MC and Member of WG3 in “Worlds of Related Coercions in Work” (WORCK); Member of WG3 in “Port City Territories in Action: A collaborative Laboratory for Inclusive Energy Transition” (PACT).
